Judge rejects Coventry's request to dismiss class-action claims in Griswold bid-rigging case

A federal judge said class-action claims brought by an elderly pastor against Coventry First LLC can proceed for now in a bid-rigging case in connection with the purchase of a $8.4 million life insurance policy in a life settlement. Judge Ronald Buckwalter of the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia on Thursday, Feb. 19, denied life settlement provider Coventry's request to throw out class-action allegations made in the lawsuit.Full story
TPG and Lincoln Griswold's entire legal team secured another victory in his bid-rigging case, when the Eastern District of Pennsylvania denied the defendants' motion to strike class allegations from the case. The district court ruled this week that the class allegations are properly before the court, paving the way for class-based discovery and a motion for class certification.Full story
